A Tribute To Our Teachers!

"In my young teenage days,
All the months leaving May.
I was taught by a bunch of superheroes,
Whom I both respected and feared.
                 They were the peaceful preachers,
                 Whom we lovingly called teachers.
They made my life a distraught Heaven,
                  And a peaceful Hell.
They contributed to all of my knowledge,
But I never thanked them enough.
I was simply a shapeless dough,
And they were The Santa Claus.
                 They ought to be respected,
                 They need to be remembered.
                 But these days they aren't.
                 They suffer miserably.
To care for the younger tots,
Is in fact a Herculean task.
Then why don't they deserve,
An Olympian reward?
                Thank you, O' Great Ones!
                Your time and patience,
                Is well appreciated!"

SONNET #2

"I remember I remember,
The 5th of September.
When teachers were respected,
And they weren't dishonored.
                      I remember I remember,
                      The 25th of December,
                      When Christmas was about families,
And gifts didn't birth to jealousy.
I remember I remember,
The 31st of December,
When people were excited for a new year,
And not for the salty chips and beer.
But now all I can do is remember,
As these memories are long buried."
                                  - Dhananjay Shitkar.
